Marriage details

The parish priest sometimes recorded the details of the marriage of one of his congregation (including those who emigrated) beside their baptismal entry.

Family address

The address of the family is sometimes recorded at the end of the baptismal entry.

Names of parish priests

The names of the parish priests who conducted the baptism, D Moloney and M Hare, are recorded after each entry.

Sponsors

The sponsors are Godparents, often siblings or cousins of the parents. In this entry the parish priest has recorded the maiden name of a married sponsor, indicating that she was probably an aunt of the child.

Family surname

In some registers, the parish priest underlined the family surname, making it easier to search the register for a specific individual.

Thomas McDonagh

Here we see the baptismal entry for Thomas McDonagh, one of the leaders of the 1916 Rising, recording the fact that he was executed in 1916.
