Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine - - ON THE RECORD -

A pro­ject seek­ing to un­cover the his­tory of a rail­way in north-west Eng­land is search­ing for vol­un­teers.

Sig­nal Film and Me­dia, based in Bar­row-in- Fur­ness, is hop­ing to tell the story of Fur­ness Rail­way be­tween 1846 and 1970. Hav­ing re­ceived a grant from the Her­itage Lot­tery Fund, the or­gan­i­sa­tion plans to un­cover the role that the net­work played in the town’s in­dus­trial past and find out how it is re­mem­bered to­day.

Run­ning un­til April 2016, vol­un­teers will be able to un­der­take archival re­search and share their own mem­o­ries of us­ing the train, whether for work or leisure. The group is also look­ing for any­one that might have any rel­e­vant pho­to­graphs or mem­o­ra­bilia.
