This is a wonderful free web resource, specifically designed for family historians researching members of the British Army during the First World War. It has useful advice pages covering all aspects of researching an individual’s service history, plus detailed unit histories from cavalry regiments to the Labour Corps. Plus there are sections covering theatres of war: from France to Palestine, and Mesopotamia to Salonika. The ‘Egypt and Palestine’ page lists the forces that made up the Egypt Expeditionary Force, and we immediately learn that the 42nd ( East Lancashire) Division, for example, arrived in September 1914 and left in February 1917.
