When con­sult­ing the Cal­en­dar of Con­fir­ma­tions on Ances­try, bear in mind that con­fir­ma­tion may not have hap­pened straight af­ter death, and so it is worth check­ing sev­eral years af­ter death if an en­try is not im­me­di­ately ap­par­ent. Also re­mem­ber that once the de­ceased’s es­tate was con­firmed, if as­sets were later found, they may have been con­firmed sub­se­quently and sep­a­rately in court via a doc­u­ment called an ‘eik’.
