One of the rea­sons I started ge­neal­ogy re­search was to see if the fam­ily story that we were re­lated to the Wal­ter fam­ily of The Times was cor­rect. It’s amaz­ing how much more ac­ces­si­ble records have be­come – even in the eight years since we launched this mag­a­zine. I hope you can take John’s line fur­ther back. shows the stoke­hold of a steam ship where the stok­ers are feed­ing the boiler fur­naces, which drove the steam en­gines/tur­bines – there is no such thing as a “coal en­gine” as your cap­tion says. An­other im­age shows part of a switch­board and con­trol board. The switch­boards were never “manned” as you say and the ra­dio oper­a­tors never spent their time in an en­gine room. Apart from that, it’s a great mag­a­zine, full of in­for­ma­tive read­ing. Is there an in­dex avail­able of past ar­ti­cles?
