Rare WW1 hos­pi­tal ar­chive pre­served

A unique col­lec­tion of Scot­tish hos­pi­tal records are to be for­mally cat­a­logued. Staff from Glas­gow Univer­sity Ar­chive Ser­vices have be­gun sort­ing and preserving hun­dreds of doc­u­ments re­lat­ing to the his­tory of Ersk­ine Hos­pi­tal, which were re­cently dis­cov­ered hid­den in­side a locked room. Orig­i­nally known as the Princess Louise Scot­tish Hos­pi­tal for Limb­less Sailors and Sol­diers, the hos­pi­tal pi­o­neered the use of pros­thet­ics for wounded troops dur­ing the First World War.
