Robert the Bruce destroys Aberdeen Castle. A password used by the king – 'Bon Accord' – is later incorporated into the city‘s coat of arms.
The city is burned to the ground by the English King Edward III, as part of a failed campaign to install Edward Balliol as king.
King's College is established by William Elphinstone, Bishop of Aberdeen, on behalf of King James IV, in order to educate local parishioners.
The Battle of Aberdeen is fought on 12 September at Two Mile Cross between Royalists and Covenanters. The city is later ransacked by the successful Royalists.
