An­ces­try adds cities’ elec­toral records

Elec­toral reg­is­ters from two ma­jor Bri­tish cities have been up­loaded to an­ces­try.co.uk. On Wed­nes­day 14 Septem­ber, the sub­scrip­tion web­site re­leased over 30 mil­lion elec­toral records held by the Mitchell Li­brary in Glas­gow, re­veal­ing the names and ad­dresses of vot­ers in the city be­tween 1857 and 1962. Just two weeks later, An­ces­try added a tranche of 10 mil­lion New­cas­tle elec­toral records span­ning 1741-1974, re­leased in part­ner­ship with Tyne & Wear Ar­chives.
