1 Set up the blog

Af­ter you’ve con­firmed your Google ac­count as your Blog­ger pro­file, you’ll be taken to your dash­board where you can set up mul­ti­ple blogs. Click the ‘New Blog’ but­ton. Give it a ti­tle, web ad­dress (your­name., leave ‘Sim­ple’ se­lected and click ‘Cre­ate blog’.

2 Start a post

Go to your blog’s dash­board, where you can man­age its set­tings, re­view and edit posts and see how many page views it has at­tracted. Se­lect ‘Posts’ from the left-hand list, then click ‘Cre­ate a new post’ to start the process of putting to­gether your first blog en­try.

3 Com­pose posts

Each post has its own de­scrip­tive ti­tle, so en­ter this first. Now type the con­tent of your post be­neath it. Blog­ger uses an in­ter­face sim­i­lar to your word pro­ces­sor, so it’s sim­ple to use, with op­tions in­clud­ing text for­mat­ting, lists and other tools, plus a spell checker.

4 Add pho­tos

Click where you want the im­age to go in the post, then click the im­age but­ton to choose a photo. You can also drag im­ages from your PC di­rectly into the post win­dow. If you click the im­age but­ton, you can im­port im­ages from dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions, in­clud­ing a we­b­cam.

5 Re­po­si­tion pho­tos

You can click on a photo to drag it to a new po­si­tion. When you click on the im­age, you’ll also see a se­ries of op­tions ap­pear un­derneath it. Click ‘Add cap­tion’ to cap­tion the im­age, or ‘Left’, ‘Cen­tre’ or ‘Right’ to change its po­si­tion in re­la­tion to the rest of your text.

6 Tweak post set­tings

You’ll need to com­plete some op­tions on the right-hand side of your screen. Tag your posts with names and other key­words us­ing ‘La­bels’, or click ‘Op­tions’ to switch off reader com­ments. Click ‘Sched­ule’ to choose when your post will be pub­lished.

7 Pre­view your blog

Click ‘Save’ at reg­u­lar in­ter­vals, then click ‘Pre­view’ to see how your blog will look in a new tab or win­dow. You’ll get your first glimpse at how your blog looks – don’t like it? Check out the top tip to find out how to change it. Once you’re done, close the browser tab or win­dow.

8 Pub­lish and add pages

Click ‘Pub­lish’ to make your first post live, then re­turn to the dash­board. Click ‘Posts’ to add new posts, or click ‘Pages’ to add stand­alone pages. When cre­at­ing pages, visit the ‘Lay­outs’ sec­tion, click ‘Add a Gad­get’ and choose ‘Pages’ to add the links to your blog.
