Early Labour ancestor
I have read your article about the birth of the Labour Party and found it most interesting. My grandfather, Tom Myers, was also a forerunner of the Labour movement in our area and a friend of James Keir Hardie. I have a photo of them together with a few other people [see above] as well as a letter from Keir Hardie congratulating my grandfather when he won the Spen Valley seat. He was also a supporter of the suffragette movement and gave shelter to Christabel Pankhurst on her release from prison. Jacqueline Ellis, by email Editor replies: Sounds like you have a grandfather to be proud of.
