War memo­ri­als given listed sta­tus

His­toric Eng­land has awarded listed sta­tus to five war memo­ri­als to mark the cen­te­nary of the start of the First World War Bat­tle of Pass­chen­daele on 31 July. On the pub­lic body’s ad­vice, the gov­ern­ment awarded Grade II sta­tus to the King’s Royal Ri­fle Corps Memo­rial in Winch­ester and the Edgar Mobbs War Memo­rial in Northamp­ton, and Grade II sta­tus to Rickerby Park in Carlisle, Ham­ster­ley Col­liery War Memo­rial in County Durham and Guild­ford War Memo­rial.
