It’s im­por­tant to source digi­tised images of cen­sus records, be­cause tran­scrip­tions of­ten leave out use­ful de­tails such as rel­e­vant med­i­cal in­for­ma­tion, the num­ber of rooms with one or more win­dows, and whether a per­son could speak in Welsh, Scot­tish Gaelic or Ir­ish (asked within their re­spec­tive coun­tries in later records). Note that sup­ple­men­tary doc­u­ments avail­able for the 1901 and 1911 Ir­ish cen­suses also name land­lords for house­holds.
