VOL­UN­TEERS from en­vi­ron­men­tal group Tran­si­tion Wilm­slow have teamed up with Churches To­gether in Wilm­slow to host a Love Wilm­slow, Love our Planet en­ergy event for Valen­tine’s Day with work­shops and ac­tiv­i­ties.

Paul Allen, from the Cen­tre for Al­ter­na­tive Tech­nol­ogy in Wales, will talk about en­ergy use over the cen­turies and con­sider the im­pact it’s hav­ing on the planet.

The Rev Kirsty Thorpe from Churches To­gether in Wilm­slow said: “We hope that as peo­ple learn more about the ef­fects of our en­ergy use they will see how im­por­tant it is to take ac­tion to­gether to pro­tect our planet.”

An­drew Back­house of Wilm­slow Quak­ers and Tran­si­tion Wilm­slow added: “Tran­si­tion Wilm­slow is a group of lo­cal peo­ple ad­dress­ing how we can live more sus­tain­ably and im­prove our com­mu­nity. “There is good work be­ing done by in­di­vid­u­als and groups in Wilm­slow and we can cel­e­brate this.”

Love Wilm­slow, Love our Planet is on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 14, at Wilm­slow Guild on Bourne Street. The meet­ing starts with cof­fee at 9.45am and in­cludes a light lunch. The af­ter­noon will have ac­tiv­i­ties for a va­ri­ety of ages from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
