MAY FAIR WILL GO AHEAD
THE COMMITTEE behind the Alderley Edge May Fair decided to go ahead with the event after a dispute with the parish council.
Parish councillors wrote to the committee to say they could no longer use the track between Alderley Edge Park - where the event is held - and Chorley Hall Lane for access after complaints. The volunteers replied to say they would have to cancel the event in this case. The parish council reversed its decision but members of the fair committee attended this month’s council meeting for assurances that this would not change again before the event. Councillors said they could use the track after confirmation by Cheshire East. The fair volunteers agreed at their next meeting to go ahead with the event, which will take place on Saturday, May 16.
