Lawyer named in industry top 100 list
A LAWYER has been picked by an industry magazine to appear in a top 100 list.
David Bott, senior partner at Bott and Co Solicitors in Wilmslow, has been named in The Lawyer magazine’s ‘Hot 100’ for 2015.
David was recognised for his work at the firm, which specialises in personal injury and flight delay compensation. The list is published each year after research by The Lawyer’s team into the candidates’ work, contribution to their firms and the legal profession as a whole.
David said: “To be included on the list is recognition of all the hard work put in by our staff and the hard decisions made by the directors.
“It is a great honour to be on the list and all at Bott and Co are rightfully proud of the accolade.”
David founded Bott and Co, alongside Paul Hinchliffe and Gary Froggatt in 2001. Its main office is at St Ann’s Parade, Wilmslow and there are offices in Manchester, London and Leeds.
The personal injury department now represents more than 6,000 people each year, and has recovered over £250million in claims for victims who have been injured in road traffic accidents, accidents at work, holiday sickness and beauty therapy negligence.
The Lawyer magazine praised Bott and Co for its response to government civil justice reforms which put a cap on what personal injury lawyers can be paid.
A spokesman said: “As Lord Justice Jackson’s civil litigation costs reforms took hold, personal injury firms across the UK felt the bite.
“Bott and Co was no exception but instead of bemoaning the cuts, senior partner David Bott led a complete reinvention of his practice.”
Bott and Co decided to expand into the flight compensation market and invested in IT systems.
Staff are handling more than 20,000 claims for passengers who experience delays on the airlines and have announced their 10,000th win.
David was elected to the executive committee of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers in April 2006.
