Charitable Miss Wilmslow hopes for national title
ABEAUTY queen who already carries the title of Miss Wilmslow now has her sights set on Miss England.
Sophie Tozer, 28, won her current title in July last year, after competing with other applicants in the North West region.
But now Sophie, who lives in Wilmslow, is preparing to take part in the national beauty contest with 70 UK regions.
The 5ft11in make-up artist has carved herself a modelling and acting career, but is now turning her attention to charity work for The British Heart Foundation.
Sophie said: “I’m doing some general helping out in the charity shop, and the reason I chose that charity is because so many people are affected by heart disease.
“l lost all my grandparents to heart disease so I’ve been personally touched by it.”
And the heartache caused by the disease was felt by Sophie’s family once again after losing a CHILDREN at Nether Alderley Primary won an inter-schools spelling competition.
The youngsters from years three, four, five and six won the Wilmslow primary schools spelling bee hosted by headteacher Darren Morgan at Lindow Primary School.
They took on group activities such as anagrams, Scrabble and individual spelling tests to beat nine other teams.
Richard Craven, headteacher, said: “The children had a very enjoyable afternoon and were thrilled to win. Many thanks to Mr Morgan for putting on the event.” family friend last week.
Sophie added: “People talk about cancer much more, but so many people are affected by heart disease.”
The Wilmslow beauty queen has even matched her dresses for the forthcoming pageant to show extra support for the British Heart Foundation.
She added: “I’ve gone for a red dress for my evening gown to represent the charity I’m supporting.”
Sophie, who is currently featuring in an Imperial Leather advert, will be entered into an interview round at the pageant, where judges will ask contestants more about their lives.
And Sophie will certainly have plenty to say after modelling at Manchester Fashion Week, as well as creating a successful name for herself as a freelance make-up artist.
Sophie, who also campaigns for animal charity PETA, will be competing in the Miss England pageant on February 8.
And success could mean a trip to America for Sophie, who will then be entered into a Miss Galaxy competition.
