DOCTOR at Stepping Hill Hospital has won a prestigious global award for his research on correcting crooked teeth in patients.
Dr Badri Thiruvenkatachari, a senior registrar at the hospital, won the award for research published in the prestigious American Journal of Orthodontics.
His research looked at the best ways to strengthen and correct the alignment of patients’ teeth.
Dr Thiruvenkatachari said: “Knowing that I can make a difference to the way patients feel about themselves through correcting their crooked teeth is very important to me.
“It is therefore an honour to receive this award, knowing that we are furthering developments to help patients gain a perfect smile.”
The David L Turpin Award for Evidence Based Research is an annual award which is given to the highest rated clinical trial or review published in the American Journal of Orthodontics during the previous year.
