DOC­TOR at Step­ping Hill Hos­pi­tal has won a pres­ti­gious global award for his re­search on cor­rect­ing crooked teeth in pa­tients.

Dr Badri Thiru­venkat­achari, a se­nior reg­is­trar at the hos­pi­tal, won the award for re­search pub­lished in the pres­ti­gious Amer­i­can Jour­nal of Or­thodon­tics.

His re­search looked at the best ways to strengthen and cor­rect the align­ment of pa­tients’ teeth.

Dr Thiru­venkat­achari said: “Know­ing that I can make a dif­fer­ence to the way pa­tients feel about them­selves through cor­rect­ing their crooked teeth is very im­por­tant to me.

“It is there­fore an hon­our to re­ceive this award, know­ing that we are fur­ther­ing de­vel­op­ments to help pa­tients gain a per­fect smile.”

The David L Turpin Award for Ev­i­dence Based Re­search is an an­nual award which is given to the high­est rated clin­i­cal trial or re­view pub­lished in the Amer­i­can Jour­nal of Or­thodon­tics dur­ing the pre­vi­ous year.
