“People don’t have to man their own stalls, they can come in once a week and change things around – they’re welcome to be here, of course, but if people have young kids, are looking after family members, or maybe need to be at home, this means they can have a stall here.”
Across dozens of stands, shoppers can pick up vintage fashions from the last century – for both sexes, from dresses and heels to bow ties and leather boots – as well as home furnishings, handbags, luggage, kitchenalia, ornaments, records and toys.
Gabrielle also has plans for a vintage-style kitchen and tearooms at one end of the mill, overlooking the park.
“People are already coming up from London to buy vintage here,” Gabrielle enthuses about how soon word has got out. “This is the only thing like it in the north.”
