Marlow fire four past Uxbridge FC

Mark Bartley admits Marlow FC might not have been up to their usual standard in Saturday’s defeat to Bedfont Sports but was pleased to see the Blues resume normal service against Uxbridge on Tuesday night.

Michael Kinsella’s solitary goal was the difference between the Blues and the Eagles at the weekend as Marlow fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Bedfont Recreation Ground.

But whether it was home advantage or the tactical reshuffle from boss Bartley, Marlow made amends with a 4-0 victory over Uxbridge at Oak Tree Road.

James Clark, Charlie Samuel, Curtis Chapple, and Carl Stewart got the Blues back on winning ways with three of the four finishes potential to be ‘goals of the season’ according to Bartley.

“We weren’t quite at our usual standard on Saturday,” said the Blues boss.

“We looked flat, we conceded from a corner and other than that it was a pretty uneventful performance.

“I think we were worth a point but we didn’t do enough to win it, I’ll admit.

“We reset the side against Uxbridge as I made a few changes. We came away with a very good win and I’m pleased with my team’s response.”

“It’s hard to look past Charlie Samuel as last night’s (Tuesday) star man,” added Bartley.

“He’s a very natural striker of the ball and hits the ball as hard as anyone I’ve ever seen. Yesterday, he caught it particularly well.

“Unfortunately for their (Uxbridge) goalkeeper, he’s been beat by three goals that are probably goal of the season contenders so he’s certainly had a bad day at the office.”
