Attendances were on the up at The Gore

-

In recent seasons Burnham have struggled to encourage supporters through the gate but, with local sides Maidenhead United and Slough Town currently having to play behind closed doors, attendances have been up at The Gore.

Keen to build on this and retain some of their new-found fanbase, ticket prices were reduced to £3 a match, leading to the Blues being watched by between 100-200 every home game.

Player manager Ash James hopes that trend will continue after the second national lockdown.

“The most important thing is the fans,” said player manager Ash James. “We need the fans, or we don’t generate money at our level. It’s all volunteers at this level but we still need the fans to keep it going.

“We were getting good feedback which is brilliant. It felt like we had things sorted on and off the pitch so it’s just a shame this is happening.

“The chairman was happy to see people coming into the ground, enjoying it, and those I spoke to said they were planning to return.

“In these times, being able to have some food and a beer while watching football for under £10 is brilliant.”
