Frank has writ­ten to NHS La­nark­shire’s head of ser­vices, Gra­ham John­ston, about the is­sue but says his let­ter has fallen on deaf ears so far.

Ear­lier this month, the Wishaw Press re­vealed drug ad­dicts had been us­ing the car park with sev­eral anti-so­cial prob­lems reported there.

Gra­ham John­ston said: “The dis­abled park­ing at the Houldsworth Cen­tre car park is fully com­pli­ant with all statu­tory re­quire­ments.

“In an ef­fort to fur­ther im­prove dis­abled park­ing at the cen­tre, we are ex­plor­ing the pos­si­bil­ity of con­vert­ing the drop-off bay at the front of the cen­tre into a dis­abled park­ing area which will be sub­ject to build­ing con­trol ap­proval.

“Within the new multi-decked car park, we have no record of any ve­hi­cle us­ing the dis­abled bays in­ap­pro­pri­ately. How­ever, any driver who was to do so would be no­ti­fied by a sticker/leaflet be­ing placed on the ve­hi­cle in­form­ing the owner that they had parked in­ap­pro­pri­ately.”
