A star- studded line- up helped raise almost £3500 for the Les Hoey’s MBE DreamMaker Foundation.

The event, at Dalziel Park on March 10, saw former Celtic footballer John Hartson and magician Rodd Hogg appear at the fundraiser hosted by sports personality Peter Martin.

Les Hoey MBE said: “It was a great night. The guests and the children who came along thoroughly enjoyed it.

“The sporting stars were brilliant and had everyone in stitches the whole night.

“I’d like to thank Patrick Crawley for organising the night and making it a success.”

Welshman John, who previously battled testicular cancer, was so inspired by the work Les and his DreamMaker team do that he called him after the event to say his John Hartson Foundation would be donating funds raised at his annual celebrity golf day at Mar Hall to the charity.

Les added: “When I got the call from John I was chuffed to bits.

“He had briefly mentioned it to be on the night but I didn’t want to get my hopes up.

“When he called he said he is a man of his word and wanted to honour what he said.

“The John Hartson Foundation do amazing work and we are delighted to be chosen by John personally.”

Rodd Hogg wowed guests with his impressive close-up magic.

He borrowed coins, rings and cards from the audience and performed truly amazing magic right in front of your eyes.

Event organiser Patrick Crawley added: “It was a successful night. I’d like to thank everyone who bought tickets and showed their support and to the sporting stars and Rodd who made the night one to remember.”
