- Gary Fanning

The quiz night held in Cleland to help raise cash for a family fun day during the school summer holidays was hailed a huge success in the community.

The Crackling Roses were the winning team at the event held in the Cleland Club on Friday, April 21, at 7.30pm.

The winning team consisted of MSP Clare Adamson, Nicky, Cameron, John and Rosie.

All money raised at the event will help towards arranging a family fun day during the school summer holidays.

The event was organised by Cleland Community Council.

Chairman Louise Roarty said: “We would like to thank everyone who came along and took part.

“Special thanks to the Cleland Club, Mark our quiz master and member, Patrick our adjudicator and secretary, Margo ticket money collector and treasurer, Jennifer, Colin and Hugh for selling the raffle tickets.

“It was a great effort by all concerned.”

The entry was £ 20 for a team of four.

A trophy was presented to the winning team.

On the night, there were raffle prizes and snacks at the event.

All community councils in the area were invited to send a team.

It allowed the groups to set up a network to shared concerns about antisocial behaviour, bullying at schools and transport issues.
