Man, 45, nabbed buying drink for teens under 18
A Newmains man was caught by police buying booze for under-age teenagers.
At around 6.05pm on June 17, the 45-year-old allegedly purchased alcohol from a licensed premises in Tiree Crescent and passed it onto a person under the age of 18.
The man was charged and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
A police- led initiative, entitled You’re Asking For It, has been running to make young people and adults aware of the issues and dangers if buying or asking for alcohol especially for young people.
A ground- breaking initiative by police in Wishaw has been recognised for cutting street drinking, antisocial behaviour and violent offences.
The initiative finished runner- up at the Safer Communities Awards which were held at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow last year.
