Open day success at town ‘s care home
Residents, families, friends and staff celebrated an open day held at Beechwood Care Home in Wishaw.
Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative, which connects care homes with communities, with the aim of showing people the excellent services that are available at the heart of their community.
Cathy Togneri, manager of the home, invited MP Marion Fellows and Claire Beau from Alzheimer Scotland to the event to promote the development of lasting relationships, and to encourage intergenerational rapport, in line with the‘Friendship’theme for 2017.
Guests were presented with a glass of champagne on arrival and shown to the dining room where staff had made canapes, and a cake to commemorate National Care Home Week. Entertainment was in full swing in each unit of the home as staff had singers, magicians and an accordionist to perform.
Ms Togneri said“Care Home Open Day gives us the opportunity to showcase the home and lets people talk to the team.”
