Knitting for Malawi
Kind primary pupils teamed up with top knitters to support a Malawi school.
Pupils at Kirk O’Shotts have helped out St Matthew’s nursery in Malawi for the last five years through fundraising and projects, including sending out literacy and numeracy resources.
Now the Salsburgh primary have teamed up with Mvumo Primary which is the poorest school in the region of Mulanje.
Through a Just Giving page, money has been raised to send to the school and the Friends of Kirk O’Shotts group have been knitting ponchos and beanie hats for the children in Malawi.
Earlier this year, £575 was raised to build a classroom for Mvumo Primary so pupils in the upper primary can attend lessons to complete their primary education.
The youngsters joined Joyce Cowrie and Ishbel Keir who knitted for the Wishaw General neo-natal unit as they celebrated their fundraising efforts.
