Yobs prove they are just wasters
Vandals cause damage at centre
Police have launched an investigation after yobs broke into Netherton Recycling Centre and caused significant damage.
The vandals smashed a door and window of the building, in Netherall Road, late on Thursday night and scattered waste all over the site.
The vandalism caused the centre to be closed on Friday morning before it re-opened later in the day.
A council spokeswoman said: “Damage was caused at Netherton Household Waste Recycling Centre during Thursday night, with the door and window in the building smashed and items of waste scattered over the site.
“The incident was reported to Police Scotland and we have provided them with CCTV footage.
“Staff cleared the site after the police investigation, and the centre was reopened within an hour on Friday morning.”
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed to the Wishaw Press that the alarm had been raised at 7am on Friday morning.
The spokesman added: “Officers are currently reviewing CCTV in a bid to catch who was responsible.
“Those responsible got over a fence before smashing windows and kicking a door which caused damage to the property. “Enquiries are ongoing.” If you have any information in relation to this incident or know who may be responsible then contact police on 101.
