Cafe hosts events to talk about suicide
A Motherwell cafe is marking Suicide Prevention Week, which starts on Monday, by holding a series of events.
Windmills Ca f e is hosting Conversation Ca f é, a part n e r s h i p between Windmills and Suicide Prevention North Lanarkshire.
During Suicide Prevention Week, which starts next Monday, the cafe are offering people the opportunity to talk about how they are feeling, and if they have been affected by suicide.
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the cafe, based in Brandon Parade East, will have a qualified counsellor available and trained staff that can signpost people to the right support.
A cafe spokesperson said: “There are around 52 suicides each year in North Lanarkshire, equating to one suicide per week.
“By working together we can make our community a place where we support wellbeing and talk openly about suicide and mental health.
“Let’s shatter the secrecy around suicide and keep the conversation alive.”
