Allanton

Allanton Parish Church service, Discovery club and creche will be held in the church this Sunday at 12.30pm. All welcome. Mothers’ and toddlers’ group have resumed in the church hall on Tuesday mornings at 9.30am, with the Women’s Guild meeting in the annex in the afternoon at 2pm. All will be made welcome to come along and join this friendly group. Karate class is held in the church hall on Wednesdays at 6.30pm. All welcome. Street dance classes have resumed in the church hall on Thursdays at 6pm to 7pm, and from 7pm to 9pm. Youth group meets in the Senior Citizens’ Centre on Fridays, from 7pm to 9pm. Miners’ Social Club Country music night on Saturday will see entertainment from a guest artist with Sunday night dancing to Bill McFarlane. Metafit class will be held on Tuesday at 7pm. There is a double session of bingo on a Thursday night followed by play your cards right. Harthill

Harthill, Benhar and District Horticultural Society will be hosting their annual show in Alexander Penden Primary School on Saturday, September 9. Doors open at 2pm, and admission will be by donation. The presentation of prizes will take place at 3.15pm, followed by an auction of produce and a raffle draw. There will be the usual horticulture and industrial sections, as well as a schools section for the local school children, an open age under 16s section, a tombola, raffle, shop and tea room.
