Motherwell Photograph­ic Society The new season at Motherwell Photograph­ic Society started last Thursday at Holytown Community Centre with an open evening when the club welcomed back existing members and a number of potential new members. The club has an interestin­g and varied programme of meetings throughout the season. On Thursday they will welcome Neil Barlow from Cowal Camera Club. Neil will be the first guest speaker of the season and his topic “My View of the Alps” is sure to attract a good attendance. Other meetings will include practical nights, competitio­ns and guest speakers covering a wide range of subjects. The club meets every Thursday at 7 30pm in Holytown Community Centre, Stevenston Street , Holytown and new members of any level of experience are always welcome. Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church Worship on Sunday will begin at 11am and is available live via the church website (dalzielsta­ndrews.org. uk) or for catch-up later on YouTube. The service will include BSL signing and an electronic note-taking screen. The prayer groups meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm and 1pm respective­ly. All youth organisati­ons are now active, with the toddlers’ group meeting on Tuesday mornings at 10am. The church choir meet on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm and welcomes new members. The morning service on Sunday, September 17, will be an all-age occasion to celebrate harvest thanksgivi­ng. Donations towards the work of Tear Fund will be taken during this service. Following the success of last year’s Keswick in Motherwell praise and teaching event, this will again be held in Dalziel St Andrew’s Church on the evenings of September 14 to 16, starting at 7.30pm. Entry is free but there will be a collection to meet the costs of holding the event. Tickets are available by contacting the Calvary Church office on 01698 254848. South Wishaw Parish Church The Wednesday activities resume in the church with prayer group and life group at 10am and 10.45am respective­ly. Midweek service will be held at noon, followed by lunch, and Wednesday Welcome starts at 1.30pm. The worship service on Sunday at 11am will be conducted by Rev Terry Moran. The church thanked everyone who helped with the Macmillan coffee morning, with the total amount raised from the event almost reaching the £1000 mark. The God question: Science or God or Both? debate begins in South Wishaw Church tonight and will continue for the next six weeks. The event starts at 7.15pm for tea or coffee, with the talk starting at 7.30pm. Breath Easy Clyde Valley offers support for people who suffer from any form of chronic obstructiv­e pulmonary disease (COPD) and their carers. This group is affiliated with the British Lung Foundation and provides advice and informatio­n relating to living with a lung disease. Their next meeting will be held in the Wishawhill Community Centre on Low Main Street on Thursday at noon. The informal group meets over tea, coffee and biscuits. Meetings are free. Houldswort­h Bowling Club Entertainm­ent for members and friends will see dancing to Perfect Union plus bingo and treasure chest on Saturday, September 16, at the usual time. Rotary Club Rotarian Jim Rae gave a short presentati­on on his charity Water for All Africa at the meeting of Motherwell and Wishaw Rotary Club on Thursday of last week. Jim
