Cannabis call for medical use
Former health secretary Alex Neil is backing a motion that highlights the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s call for legalisation in relation to the medicinal use of cannabis to be reviewed.
The motion calls on the Scottish Government to engage with Holyrood on this issue to help people living with MS treat the condition and its symptoms better.
Airdrie and Shotts MSP Mr Neil, left, said: “I am convinced this is the right thing to do.
“It is a view that is widely supported by doctors and now the MS Society.
“This does not mean decriminalisation of cannabis or any other drug, just that it makes sense to use it under medically-controlled conditions to alleviate pain that cannot be as effectively dealt with by other types of medication.”
