Allanton Parish Church service, Discovery Club and creche will take place at 12.30pm this Sunday. Mothers and toddlers group meets in the church hall on Tuesday mornings at 9.30am and the Women’s Guild meet at 2.30pm. Street dance classes are held in the church hall on Thursday evenings at 6pm to 7pm and 7pm to 8pm. Operation Christmas Shoebox Items for this year’s appeal should be handed in to the church by this Sunday, November 19. Christmas fayre will be held in the church on November 25, from noon to 2pm. Entrance costs £2.25 (includes tea and admission). There will be all the usual stalls, including bottle, baking, soft goods and craft stalls as well as a Christmas shop and Santa Claus will be calling in to see the children. Communion service will be held in the church on Sunday, December 3, at 12.30pm. Christmas lights ceremony This year’s Christmas lights will be switched on at the church on December 3, at 6pm. All welcome. Miners’ Social Club Entertainment begins with a country music night, featuring Sierra Moon on Saturday, followed by dancing to Bill McFarlane on Sundays. A metafit class is held on Tuesday nights at 7pm, and on Thursday nights there is a double session of bingo, followed by play your cards right. Starting on Sunday, November 19 Billy Meredith will be entertaining at the club from 2pm to 6pm; entrance costs £2 at the door on the day. Hogmanay tickets, priced £10, are now on sale with Carol Paris and includes a buffet. January 2 will see Billy Meredith performing from 2pm to 8pm; tickets £5.
