she per­formed a clean pro­gramme with no neg­a­tive GOE’s (Grade of Ex­e­cu­tion) to take first place.

Laura said: “It shows how ded­i­cated she is that she wants to get over to the ice and train early in the morn­ing. “She just loves the com­pe­ti­tion. “Her coaches have trained skaters to Olympic and world level and there’s a great group of girls there who re­ally push each other.

“Nat­u­rally Lia would love to com­pete for Great Bri­tain in the fu­ture.”

Lia’s coach, Sil­vanna Cameron, was also full of praise for her.

She added: “Lia has worked so hard to achieve what she has and I’m so proud of her.

“If Lia con­tin­ues to put the work in, she has the po­ten­tial to go far.

“Lia’s goal now is to qual­ify for the Bri­tish Cham­pi­onships in 2018 and hopes to com­pete in­ter­na­tion­ally, rep­re­sent­ing her coun­try in the near fu­ture.”
