Games selection at the double?
Motherwell badminton star Alex Dunn has set his sights on next year’s Commonwealth Games.
Dunn (19) has struck up a fruitful partnership in men’s doubles with Adam Hall, and in mixed doubles with Eleanor O’Donnell.
With the Gold Coast potentially on the horizon, Dunn hopes to do well at the Scottish Open Grand Prix.
He said:“It’s a very big tournament and it’s on home soil.
“Adam and myself are trying to qualify for the Commonwealth Games, which is a big thing.
“It was a dream start for us as we got to the final in our first tournament, some semi-finals and a quarter-final.
“It would be amazing to get to the final of the Scottish Open but it’s a hard draw – we have the Danish champions [Frederik Colberg and Rasmus Fladberg] in the first round, but if we get past them it opens up. I would be happy with a semi-final.
“Commonwealth Games would be amazing. Before we started I was told that I probably wouldn’t qualify as a singles player, but together we have done really well.”
