Fined and banned as he ad­mits guilt

A man has been fined and banned from driv­ing fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent in Ne­warthill.

John Broad­foot had orig­i­nally de­nied all charges against him but changed his plea on the date of his trial.

At Hamil­ton Sher­iff Court, 31-yearold Broad­foot ad­mit­ted be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing man­ner in Mosshall Street, Ne­warthill, on Oc­to­ber 30, by act­ing ag­gres­sively to­wards two peo­ple and shout­ing, swear­ing and mak­ing threats of vi­o­lence.

He also ad­mit­ted fail­ing to pro­vide a spec­i­men of blood for anal­y­sis at Mother­well Po­lice Of­fice on the same date to as­cer­tain his abil­ity to drive.

A charge that Broad­foot was driv­ing a ve­hi­cle whilst he was un­fit to drive through drink or drugs in Mosshall Street was dropped by pros­e­cu­tors.

Sher­iff Linda Ni­col­son fined Broad­foot, of Chapel Street, Cleland, a to­tal of £360. He was also banned from driv­ing for one year and 31 days.
