Mystery over cops in garden

Wishaw Press - - FRONT PAGE -

A police forensic team was spotted at work in a Wishaw garden last week.

But mystery surrounds the reason why they were there.

A worried member of the public contacted the Wishaw Press when the specialists descended on Clarendon Road, Netherton, last Tuesday.

Cops, wearing white suits, remained at the scene for several hours and other officers returned the following day.

But when the Wishaw Press asked police what was going on, a spokesperson said that no incidents had been recorded in the street on the days in question.

They suggested the investigations may have been linked to an investigation from outwith the region but couldn’t comment further.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said:“The police were here on Monday, Tuesday and now today (last Wednesday).

“We had the men in white suits out yesterday (last Tuesday) looking in the garden.”

A fellow neighbour added: “There was a bit of bother there last year. A window was smashed and police were called.

“We have heard a couple of rumours as to why they are there but that’s all we know at the moment.

“The police haven’t told us anything.”
