Wishaw Press - - SCHOOL NEWS -

A Motherwell primary school is celebrating winning a state-of-the-art Activpanel interactive display worth £3000.

St Bernadette’s Primary School won the front -of-classroom screen after submitting a creative entry into why they should win one of the displays.

The school’s video, of pupils spelling out words by holding up individual letters, beat competition from more than 250 other entries.

Mrs Christine Boyle, head teacher at St Bernadette’s, said:“We really needed new front-of-class technology but are restricted when it comes to funding.

“The Promethean Grant was the perfect opportunity to win an ActivPanel for the school and we were thrilled to be successful.

“Our ActivPanel has been such a hit that with some fundraising, donations from generous parents and a school contribution, we have been able to buy two more.”

The competition ran during the last school year, and was installed in time for start of the 2017/18 academic year.

Staff are due to receive training as part of the winning package.

The ActivPanel can connect with other devices in the classroom, such as laptops and tablets, enabling students to complete tasks from the screen on a handheld device.
