Ladies club looking for new members

Wishaw Press - - SCHOOL NEWS -

Motherwell Ladies Amateur Swimming club has been in existence since 1916. Its initial home was in Motherwell Baths in High Road, Motherwell.

After a spell in Wishaw Baths at Ryde Road, the club now meets each Tuesday evening in Wishaw Sports Centre, from 7pm until 7.45pm for the junior club, and 7.45pm until 8.30pm for senior ladies. Over the years, the club has been run successfully by the committee members and many young girls have been introduced to swimming as a recreational activity as well as encouraging many ladies to conquer their fears of water.

The AGM of the club is about to take place and the committee would welcome new members to both sections of the club.

Children from five years are welcome to come along and especially ladies from the age of 16 years.

Enjoy a swim as well as a social outing at the club and enjoy having the pool to yourselves.

The Junior section has a small race programme which culminates in a gala in November.

Pop along at 6.45pm any Tuesday to speak to the membership secretary.

There is a very competitive yearly membership fee and you pay at the reception desk at the baths each Tuesday evening.
