IN CARLUKE
Families took to the streets of Carluke to make sure this year’s gala was a sunny success.
The 2018 gala day queen elect, Tammy Cunningham, and this year’s procession moved through the streets of the town in glorious sunshine to cheers from hundreds of people.
They were assembled along the route to watch the crowning ceremony held in the town’s Market Square.
Tammy was crowned by this year’s crowning lady, Liz Barthram, after which her champion, Brandon McMillan, called for three cheers for this year’s queen.
The winners of this year’s floats were judged by MP Lisa Cameron and Councillors Joe Fagan and Colin McGavigan and their partners.
The winners were presented with their trophies after the crowning ceremony.
Not even a thunderstorm later in the afternoon could dampen everyone’s spirits or spoil another successful event.
