An NHS chief this week insisted lessons will be learned after vomit was left lying on the floor ofwishaw hospital‘s cafe for almost a day.

University Hospital Wishaw’s director of hospital services Marion Mark said the incident was “clearly not the standard of cleanliness we aim to provide” and the incident would be raised with cleaning staff.

Patient Debbie Ralton was left disgusted when she realised her sick from the previous night, when she had fallen ill in the ground floor cafe on Thursday at around 8.20pm, still hadn’t been cleaned at 3.30pm the following day.

Debbie told the Wishaw Press: “It’s absolutely disgusting and very embarrassing. It’s a hospital, it’s meant to be a sterile environment.

“No wonder the place gets a bad name.”
