Teen told to seek help after incident
Awishaw teenager has been ordered to seek help for alcohol and drug problems following an incident in Netherton.
The 17-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week and pleaded guilty to two charges against him relating to an incident in Inglis Street on September 6.
The teenager admitted throwing stones at vehicles, which caused damage to some of them, as well as shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner.
The youngster also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest on the same date.
During the incident, the 17-year-old struggled violently with police officers, refused to enter a police vehicle and lashed out with his arms and legs.
The teenager committed both of the offences while he was released on police bail. In court last week, Sheriff Alastair Macfadyen sentenced the teen to a two year community payback order with supervision.
He was also ordered to attend drug and alcohol treatment and counselling as directed by his social worker.
