A speed­ing driver dragged a pet pooch to its death.

Choco­late Labrador Harry was crushed un­der the wheels of a sil­ver hatch­back and pulled along the road for 20 yards .

Heart­bro­ken owner Jane Oliver rushed to the vet but Harry’s in­juries were so se­vere he had to be de­stroyed.

The 52-year-old, from Kirknethan in Nether­ton, said at the time :“I’m dev­as­tated.

“It’s like los­ing a mem­ber of the fam­ily.” When­ever derby day rolls around, you can guar­an­tee a bat­tle be­tween two fierce ri­vals.

Mother­well cap­tain Carl Mchugh be­lieved their up­com­ing game with Hamil­ton would be no dif­fer­ent.

The skip­per had fond mem­o­ries of hop­ping across the M74 hav­ing made his come­back fol­low­ing a con­cus­sion in a bat­tling 1-1 draw as well as play­ing a key role in a 1-0 win at the tail end of the pre­vi­ous sea­son.
