Within the FOI, the health board repeatedly highlight the uncertainty surrounding Brexit negotiations and the possibility of no deal as restricting their efforts to plan ahead but they say they are working with the Scottish government to identify potential problems.
It states: “The board are not seeing any impacts at this time and although the risk to staffing levels is anticipated, it cannot be fully quantified as yet.

Gabe Docherty, interim director of public health at NHS Lanarkshire, said: “We have engaged with the Scottish Government regarding the impact of Brexit on health boards based on the material provided by them to date.
“We will continue to monitor this risk as part of our regular update of the risk register and will consider action required.”
Stephen Deans, Unite re g i o n a l industrial coordinator, said: “Migrant workers from EU states and non-eu states make a vital contribution to our public services, in particular the NHS.
“Unite have been pressing the Scottish Government to ensure that there is a strategy for dealing with potential staffing shortfalls arising from Brexit across the whole economy and the preparatory work for this must be ongoing now. The Freedom of Information request clearly highlights that this work is not being undertaken for NHS Lanarkshire nor the NHS across Scotland.
“Worryingly, the Scottish Government does not have a clear idea of how many workers from EU states are supporting some critical services. This development, although not surprising, should alarm us all as the NHS is increasingly under financial and demographic pressures.”
We will continue to monitor this risk... Gabe Docherty
