MOVE MORE Slouching on the sofa, bingeing on a film-fest can leave you listless. “Circulatio­n and heart rate slow when we do nothing, which reduces oxygen supply to the muscles and your body starts to ‘shut down’,” says physiother­apist Tim Allardyce (surreyphys­io.co.uk). The solution – though it’s probably the last thing you feel like doing – is to get up and get moving!

GAME ON “Get creative with exercise,” suggests Janey. “Play charades in the garden or if you’re playing a board game, add fitness forfeits (if you win a point, nominate someone to do ten press-ups). Putting pedometers in stockings (perhaps with a prize for who does the most steps) is a clever ways to get people to want to move more!”
