Keyhole surgery fixed my hip

-

Claire Todd, 54, is a chartered physiotherapist and runs Heartlands Physiotherapy Clinic In Daventry, Northants. “I’ve always enjoyed sport but for the past three years i’d felt a sharp pinching pain at the front of my hip in the groin area. A specialist hip surgeon diagnosed femoral acetabular impingement (fai), where the thigh bone and hip socket bang into each other, plus a cartilage tear and patches of osteoarthritis. I was booked in for a hip arthroscopy, a keyhole operation where the bone is trimmed and reshaped, and a tear in the cartilage sealed. But there was more wear and tear (osteoarthritis) than originally thought so eventually i may need a full hip replacement. There have been ups and downs in recovery but six months on, I’m OPTIMISTIC OF GETTING BACK TO FULL FITNESS.” Read Claire’s blog at heartlandsphysio.co.uk
