I’m happy to be a heart-throb to all ages!
Chef james martin tells polly dunbar about his new culinary adventure, why he had to step down from Saturday Kitchen, and why he’s not averse to the odd twix…
James Martin, 45, was born in Malton, North Yorkshire. His family were farmers on the Castle Howard Estate near York, and he grew up helping in the kitchen. After catering college and a period working in France, he won a job at Harvey’s in London, where he trained under Marco Pierre White.
He first appeared on TV in 1996 with shows such as Ready Steady Cook. From 2006 until 2016, he was the presenter of
BBC One’s hugely popular series Saturday Kitchen – and made headline news when he quit last year. His new show, Saturday Morning With James Martin, starts on ITV in September. There will also be an American version of his recent hit French Adventure.
James lives in Winchester with his girlfriend Louise Davies, who is a PA, and his two dogs. He has two restaurants, The Kitchen, on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire, and James Martin Manchester. >>
