The dishes

People (me, mostly) still talk of the terrible dishwasher disaster of 2012. it went down in family history. our youngest, Jack, was just a few months old, so tensions were running high. after repeatedly asking Vinny to help me load and unload the dishwasher – he’d (strategically) managed to avoid it until then with, ‘oh, is that my phone ringing?’ and then quickly running off, or, ‘i think Jack’s waking up,’ and disappearing upstairs. Finally, i snapped and Vinny helped out, but of course none of the dishes were put away in their correct place – which then made trying to make dinner an utter pain.
