comedy duo gareth hale and norman pace first hit our screens in the mid-80s, and soon landed their own itv sketch show Hale and Pace, which ran for 10 years between 1988 and 1998. they also made a spin-off series, The Management, based on their characters, surly nightclub bouncers the two rons. more recently they appeared in the 2007 christmas special of Extras with ricky gervais.

the pair guest star on Benidorm this week, playing mysterious undercover detectives dennis and nigel. they arrive at the solana for some sleuthing around neptunes bar but why are the pair so interested in tim healy’s character Les/lesley? dennis and nigel are definitely channelling the two rons as they stir up trouble in the spanish resort for a couple of episodes…
