As a Beauty Editor, I love the impact of a bold lipstick, and the glowing, healthy-looking results of fake tan. But it’s fragrance that makes the biggest, yet often subliminal, impact on our memories, emotions and passions. with scent, you don’t think, you feel. Each time I pass a woman wearing YSL Yvresse (formerly Champagne), I get a pang of festive excitement. My mum would always get a new bottle for Christmas, and the fruity-floral scent still conjures up the childlike giddiness that comes with the anticipation of presents. Equally, a waft of my late nana’s Chanel no.5 can make my eyes prick with tears. Since scent is inextricably linked to our feelings, it follows that we can use certain notes to sway emotions – our own, and those around us. So meet the scentual influencers that can spritz away stress from your mind, years from your face and inches from your waistline.
