Good for you: 3 tricks for pain-free party feet

3 tricks for pain-free party feet

Michael Harrison-blount, expert podiatrist and lecturer at University of Salford, reveals his top tips:

1 Vary your shoes

Wear different shoe types and heel heights day to day and avoid wearing either extreme – flat or very high – on a frequent basis. This will then put you in a good place for that night out.

2 Get the right height

If you’re going to be dancing the night away, wear a low-heeled supportive shoe – although heels are fine if you keep your heel height to around 2-3cm. If you decide to go for flat shoes, choose a slightly thicker sole to help spread the load more evenly.

3 Add an insole

Whether you’re wearing flats or heels, a pair of soft cushioning insoles (such as Scholl Gelactiv Insoles, RRP £14.99, scholl.co.uk) will reduce the impact on the soles of the feet and joints, and can prevent those post-dance blues.
